A great Maine get-away

The Samoset Resort in Rockport is a fantastic place to enjoy Maine’s beautiful coast. Almost every room has a stunning view of the ocean. And their Italian restaurant is superb. They host lots of events including weddings.

On a recent Monday morning I had three medical appointments in Rockport, so Linda and I reserved a room at the Samoset for Sunday night. Sunday afternoon we enjoyed our grandson Vishal’s soccer game at Camden Hills High School, and then settled in to our beautiful room at the Samoset.

Our dinner in their restaurant, as usual, was delicious. We love their pasta Bolognese and their specialty dessert of 3 flavors of crème brule.

All the Samoset’s staff is very friendly, which is nice. And Sunday afternoon, I followed Linda in my wheelchair as we traveled on the walkways alongside the Samoset’s golf course which is right along the ocean.

Over the years we’ve become friends with the Samoset’s manager, Connie Russell, who does a superb job of managing this great place.

In May, our kids and grandkids gathered at the Samoset for a weekend with us. Our grandchildren spent lots of time in the indoor pool as well as outside on the playground. And one night for dinner, my brother Gordon and his wife Janet along with my sister Edie joined all of us for a wonderful dinner there. And yes, Linda and I had the Bolognese and crème brule!
