182 projects get outdoor heritage grants

Many years ago, when I worked for the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, we teamed up with Maine Audubon to create the Outdoor Heritage program with the support of the legislature and Governor Angus King.

MOHF has now awarded more than $20 million to projects around the state. For many years, Carol Gay has done a great job of staffing this program.

In the most recent grants were one for environmental education at the new 4-H Outdoor Learning Center at Greenland Point and others to help with hiking trails and even the removal of a dam.
