Stunning photos match Thoreau’s words in this book

While the words of Henry David Thoreau are thoughtful, it’s the stunning photos of Dan Tobyne that will keep you glued to this book.

Thoreau’s Cape Cod, published by Down East Books, puts you right there in some of the most beautiful ocean frontage in the world. Thoreau’s quotes accompany each photo, from Thoreau’s four walking tours of Cape Cod.

Thoreau’s book about those hikes is one of his best, and includes jokes and tall tales. Dan Tobyne did a superb job of matching just the right photos with Thoreau’s words.

Our son Josh and his wife Kelly, along with our two granddaughters, live in Massachusetts not too far from Cape Cod, so we took a ride over there one time. But I have to confess we didn’t find those isolated and beautiful beaches featured in this book. We did enjoy a great lunch there though! But the traffic, and all the houses and businesses, were too much for me.

Now, thanks to Dan Tobyne’s beautiful photos, I’m going to have to return and find those beaches. Thank you Dan!
