You will love these fairy house crafts and so will your kids and grandkids

Boy they got the subtitle right for Liza Gardner Walsh’s wonderful book Fairy House Crafts: “Wonderful, whimsical projects for you and your fairy house.” This book, published by Down East Books, is all of that and lots more.

Liza includes a whole section on homemade craft supplies from simple milk paint to homemade seed paper. I appreciated her message on the 3 R’s, reduce, reusing, and recycling. Her list of things to save for recycled fairy House crafts is great, including toothpaste caps, lollipop sticks, and old handkerchiefs and pieces of fabric.

And then there are sections on fairy house crafts, natural fairy dolls, a recycled fairy house (I really liked the “tiny books for the fairies”), and a very entertaining section on fairy costumes.

There is a section on your fairy room (loved the fairy sleepover bag in the indoor fairy mailbox), and I really enjoyed the last two sections on fairy gifts inspired by nature (birch bark pins was my favorite) and crafts for the birds and butterflies.

Photographer Andy Dumas’s photos are beautiful. Liza has written some of my favorite children’s books. She is a school librarian and lives with her family in Camden.

I’m going to get to work with my four-year-old granddaughter Ada on those birds and butterflies pieces. Ada loves birds and she is going to go crazy over the fairy house birdhouse!
