Weekly Soul by Frederic Craigie

Every week, I get a wonderful and very thoughtful quote from Dr. Frederic Craigie, who emails the quote to thousands of people. So I was excited to learn that Fred had published a book, Weekly Soul – Fifty-two meditations on meaningful, joyful, and peaceful living.

The book is certainly that, but it is also so much more. Each chapter starts with a quote, and includes information about the author, but the best part is Fred’s information and thoughts, which include questions and challenges for readers.

I’ll keep this book and read and reflect on a chapter every week. I especially liked the chapters on Miracles, Laughter and Joy, Gratitude, and Civility.

Here are some quotes of people about the book:

A wonderful weekly reader, offering us a chance to discover a deep personal sense of meaning that ultimately expresses itself in acts of kindness.

Week by week, we are led along a path towards resilience, self-nurturing and grateful living.

And I particularly liked this one:

In this book, Fred Craigie has compiled a treasure trove of humane and timeless wisdom. Informational and inspirational, these meditations will assist you in living joyfully, meaningfully, and gracefully. Reading it was a true gift.

Fred, in the book’s introduction, notes that the book’s quotes provide rich perspective on some essential questions that we all face:

What does it mean to live a good life?

What is sacred… what really matters?

How do you address suffering and woundedness?

Where do you find joy?

Where is there hope in difficult circumstances?

How can one person make a difference in the world?

Dr. Craigie is a clinical psychologist and medical educator. He practiced at a family medicine residency for 37 years and serves as member of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, teaching about spiritual and psychological resilience and well-being.

This wonderful book is available in print and e-book formats. For ordering info, and contact info for Dr. Craigie, see www.goodnessofheart.com. You can also buy the book from the publisher, MSIPress.com and Amazon.

I also encourage you to sign up for Fred’s weekly emailed quotes.

This is a very unusual book that can very possibly improve your life.
